Man Utd dressing room's feelings on Fernandes emerge after "worst teammate" jibe

Few players emerged from Manchester United's chastening 7-0 defeat against Liverpool unscathed, but Bruno Fernandes has been taking the bulk of the criticism in the wake of Sunday's dismal drubbing.

The Portuguese playmaker, who once again captained Manchester United in the absence of Harry Maguire, cut a frustrated figure at Anfield and has been blasted by fans and pundits alike for his negative body language.

The 28-year-old's role as vice-captain has since come under pressure with many people adamant that Fernandes should no longer wear the armband as a result of his petulant behaviour at Anfield. Mirror Football understands that, despite calls for Erik ten Hag to do so and the heavy criticism he has faced in the aftermath of Sunday's result, Fernandes will remain as the club's vice-captain for the foreseeable future.

But it has now emerged that some of the midfielder's teammates were allegedly less than enthused with Fernandes' behaviour at the weekend.

According to The Daily Mail, some players at the club were left 'irritated' by Fernandes' behaviour at Anfield. As well as throwing his arms around and moaning, the ex-Sporting Lisbon ace has come under fire after he appeared to push a linesman in the back and for going down theatrically clutching his face after minimal contact from Ibrahima Konate.

Intriguingly, reports claiming that some of Fernandes' Manchester United colleagues are unhappy with his behaviour come just months after Gabby Agbonlahor r launched a scathing attack on the midfielder, claiming that he looked like "the worst teammate".

Speaking back in August, the former Aston Villa striker took aim at Fernandes' negative body language in the aftermath of another heavy defeat against Brentford.

Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: "For me, Fernandes, since he's been in the Premier League, yes he's had great stats, goalscoring and assists but he looks like the worst teammate. Every time a player gives it away, every time he gives it away, he throws his arms up at his teammates, he throws his arms up at the bench.

"I've played with players like him, you'd be fuming at him. He'll press now and then. If that was Paul Pogba they would be slaughtering Pogba in the media. Fernandes gets away with murder. Did you see Fernandes do anything? It's easy to say Maguire, Ronaldo, Rashford, Sancho.

"Fernandes, for me, I can't remember the last time he had a decent game. He's always the one that's throwing his arms up in the air. Even when he gives it away. He could pass it to you but pass it out of play and he'd blame you. That's the sort of player Fernandes is. The worst possible teammate."
