A knife gang hurled mannequins at each other in a mass brawl in the middle of Selfridges, a court heard.

CCTV footage showed the gang fighting in the toilet, in the corridor and chasing each other around the displays.

Two men were stabbed in the leg as Marlon Duggan, 38, Maliq Knox-Hooke-Campbell, 22, Javani Best, 23, Kemani Duggan, 21, Ryheem Lindsay, 20, Bryan Carvalho, 22, and Andre Deer, 20, battled it out at the world famous department store in London's Oxford Street.

Robert Brown, prosecuting, said it was 'completely unnecessary outbreak of violence between two groups' at Selfridges.

He said members of the gang involved in the brawl arrived at the store on 8 May 2021 in a black Mercedes driven by Deer.

CCTV shows that Carvalho and his brother are approached by the group and a confrontation ensues.

"Kamani Duggan picks up a mannequin and throws it at Bryan Carvalho," Mr Brown said.

"The video appears to show that Bryan Carvalho has a knife in his right hand."

A member of the group tries to separate Carvalho and his brother from the other defendants.

Best is seen running towards Carvalho with a rope as other gang members tried to stop him.

Kemani Duggan tried to chase after Carvalho and a violent brawl broke out in the toilet corridor.

Carvalho was kicked to the ground by Knox-Hooke-Campbell, causing him to fall to the ground.

"While on the ground, he was kicked by Maliq Knox-Hooke-Campbell, Andre Deer, Marlon Duggan, and another male," said Mr Brown.

Both Lindsay and Carvalho were treated for stab wounds in their leg at the Whittington Hospital.

The prosecutor added that members of the public were "in fear for their own safety because of the actions of these defendants".

Lindsay, of Well House, Dalston, east London, Carvalho, of Maya Place, New Southgate, north London, both deny wounding with intent and having a bladed article.

Lindsay, Carvahlo, Best, of Haringey, Deer, of Borehamwood, Herts, Knox-Hooke, of Haringey, and the two Duggans, also of Haringey, all deny violent disorder.

Lindsay has been deemed unfit to stand trial and so the jury will have to find whether he did the act act rather than find him guilty or not guilty

The trial continues.
