They ended up with a mixed bag of items, including glassware for afternoon tea and fishing tackle.

But it was a Squirrel Cage Swift that really received a mixed response in the auction room.

The antiques dealer even described it as an "old wool winder thingy", with Ishy paying £17 for it.

He said: "How it would work is you'd have yarn and you would use this to make balls of wool, really.

"It just made it a little bit easier and took all the hard work out of doing it."

Pierre Macaig, at the Miners Welfare and Wilbys Auctions in Barnsley, tried to start the bidding at £30, but struggled to get things started.

He dropped the price and said: "Come on. I'd look nice in your bathroom with two toilet rolls on."

The room laughed, including the two experts with Izzie adding it was a "good idea".

The bidding began at £10 and suddenly rose to £42, making Ishy a £25 profit.

He finished the episode with £169.94 left to spend, however Izzie was still in the lead with £202.88.

Antiques Road Trip airs on BBC One at 3.45pm and is available on BBC iPlayer.
