BARGAIN Hunt fans have dubbed the latest episode the ‘worst auction ever’ after one couple had a humiliating experience.
During an episode of the hit BBC One show that aired today, contestant couple Farrell and David, who refer to themselves as ‘Bargain Hunt ninjas,’ made up the red team.
In keeping with the usual Bargain Hunt rules, the couple were given £300 to spend on items at a venue in Wrexham, going against the blue team.
The items are then sold at auction and whoever makes the biggest profit, or smallest loss, wins.
But in today’s show, the loss was certainly on the ‘small’ scale. Married couple Farrell and David started off well and made a £3 profit on a pair of silver plated dog ornaments.
Things soon took a turn, a ceramic basket, they bought for £105, sold at just £35. Things went from bad to worse when a pair of red stools, bought on their behalf by expert Jonathan Pratt - also known as JP, were sold.
The two chairs, which were 1930s inspired but likely to have been made in the 80s, were bought for £40. JP joked that he’d hoped they’d make £41 and added optimistically: “I think they stand a good chance.”
His prediction couldn’t have been more off. The bidding may have started at £20, but as the room fell silent, it decreased to £10, then £5 before being sold for a measly £1.

Fans were quick to react on Twitter, one said: "That must be the absolute worst auction on Bargain hunt ever”. Another said: "Cringing, I think £1 was a generous offer.”
While others claimed to have predicted it, they said: ”Everyone with eyes saw that coming". Fans dubbed it “unsurprising, so tacky" and even"soul destroying.”
To make matters worse, before finding out what they sold for, when show host Christina Trevanion asked Farrell and David if they liked them they said: “Yes, we do.” While the auctioneer, Thomas Plant said they were ‘fabulous’.
But the red team had the last laugh winning the show with a total loss of £80, against the blue team’s £111 loss.
