Nate Diaz responded to Leon Edwards' win against Kamaru Usman at UFC 286 by labelling himself the king.

'Rocky' put an end to his rivalry with former champion Usman by winning a majority decision at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday night to make the first defence of his welterweight title. Edwards came in with a perfect gameplan and executed it perfectly by neutralising the takedown threat from Usman over five rounds to win by scores of 48-46, 48-46 and 47-47.

UFC legend Diaz fought Edwards in June 2021 but lost a unanimous decision to the Brit on the night. Diaz was losing the entirety of the fight until hurting Edwards with a big punch in the last minute of the five rounds. Although Diaz failed to get the stoppage win, Edwards was on wobbly legs and many fans felt that he was saved by the final bell.

Diaz responded to Edwards' title defence against Usman by tweeting a crown emoji accompanied by a video that showed the final minute of their fight. Fans mocked Diaz for the tweet with one user replying: "Bro landed one clean shot the entire fight lol." Another reply read: "[You] laughed and pointed at him instead of finishing him though."

A third comment read: "I like Nate but this is weird. Bro landed one decent shot all fight and felt like he won. Edwards won every round up until the last one." Another user agreed by replying: "Great Nate but as I remember it, you had been fancying around for most of the five rounds. More of this and you would easily have won it."

Diaz parted ways with the UFC last September after spending 15 years fighting in the promotion and went out with a win under his belt by tapping out Tony Ferguson in his final fight. The UFC legend has been linked to a boxing fight against YouTube star Jake Paul but Conor McGregor also recently stated a trilogy fight between him and Diaz will eventually take place despite his rival's recent exit from the promotion.

“I’ll get that again. That trilogy will happen at some stage, for sure,” McGregor said on The MMA Hour. “Am I a person not to get the fights made and done and happen? When I say, it happens. I have a load of bouts left in me, a lot of stories incomplete. And I’m excited to continue on and get them done.”
