Bright flowers are often a sign that Spring is well and truly underway. Tulips commonly come in an array of colours and work as a versatile accessory around the home to brighten spirits and boost serotonin.

However, alike most flowers, tulips tend to droop or even bend after a few days. Thankfully, a gardener has shared an 'amazing' 2p trick to stop flowers from drooping, the Express reports.

The expert has shared the budget-friendly hack that instantly brings the flowers 'back to life'. Seeking advice on the most effective tips to save wilting flowers, Carol Green took to an online Gardening UK forum.

She said: "Any tips to stop my mother's day tulips from drooping please?"

Since sharing, Carol's post has surpassed 120 comments within just an hour of the post being up. Gardening enthusiasts rushed to share a hack, which involves adding a 2p coin to the vase to stop tulips from drooping.

Taking to the comment section, one Facebook user suggested: "Definitely 2p in the bottom of the vase." Meanwhile, a second person agreed: "Put a 2 pence piece in the bottom of the vase."

A former florist advised: "A 2p in the vase and a pin prick in the stem directly underneath the flower should do it."

Someone else encouraged using the hack: "I was given this advice last year and it worked almost instantly to bring my drooping tulips back to life."

The aim for this method is to leave the coin sitting at the base of the container while the flowers are in there and the blooms should stand to attention for longer.

To help cut tulips last longer, as well as stand straighter, make sure to cut the stems at an angle before placing them into the vase. This means there is more surface area for them to draw water from.

Owners should also make sure to change the water in the vase every day, rather than simply topping it up. A little flower food can also go a long way in helping preserve them.
