A FUMING Scots resident hit out after becoming "exhausted" due to a fire alarm going off for two days in a flat next door.

The user, from Edinburgh, took to Reddit to complain that the emergency alarm has been beeping in an unoccupied apartment in their building.

They wrote on the discussion website: "It's still annoying. I feel like I've tried every option. I contacted the council, they said there's nothing they can do but it is annoying.

"Contacted the letting agency, and they said they can't get in contact with the tenants. The fire brigade was called and took a look but they said they weren't allowed to barge down the door."

They added: "I think I've lost it and my partner certainly has. I'll keep on harassing the letting agency, I think it's really in their interest to fix it."

Users flocked to the comments to offer advice to the frustrated resident.

One wrote: "That must be horrendous. I’d keep pestering the letting agent - if they can’t get hold of the tenants then surely it’s reasonable that they come round and sort this out.

"They must have a key. I’d be going insane if that was happening. Sounds like it might be something as simple as a low battery. Mine do that when the battery is low."

Another put: "We had this happen to us for 3+ weeks over last March and April. Turns out it was two separate alarms that were linked. Was absolute torture, completely feel your pain!"

A third added: "My neighbour's alarm was going off (semi-detached) and the fire brigade had no problem forcing entry to resolve."

The frustrated resident later updated users to say the issue had been fixed, and took "less than five minutes."

We recently told how a mum revealed that her festive spirit was dampened after a downstairs neighbour complained about her noisy kids while visiting her parents.

The family were left stunned when there was a note at the door complaining that the children were too noisy which was disrupting the downstairs neighbours.
