It involved hitting a ball against a wall, squats, side planks, weights and more, as Carol showed off her age-defying figure as she went along.

The star opted for some gym leggings and a black top for the session, and wore her blonde locks down.

Carol captioned the post: “GYM MORNING… BOOOOM. With the man who makes me swear and sweat.”

Fans were loving Carol’s post, as one wrote: “Witness the fitness ????”

Another added: “Wow! There are people in their 20s who couldn't do that!”

A third person said: “Holy Moly that’s commitment - Keep it up ????”

Carol’s gym post comes after it was revealed that the former Countdown star is taking part in I’m A Celebrity… South Africa.

As a sneak preview, Carol and co-star Helen Flanagan were seen getting stuck into some horrifying looking trials as they returned to the show for a second time.

Ant and Dec shared the first trailer during the recent Saturday Night Takeaway and it promises lots of drama.

Some of the original ITV reality show's most memorable campmates have headed to South Africa as they battle it out to become the first I'm A Celebrity Legend.

Boxer Amir Khan, model Janice Dickson and Diversity dance troupe star Jordan Banjo were also announced among those set to enter the camp during the show's launch episode.

Olympic athlete Fatima Whitbread, former royal butler Paul Burrell, former England cricketer Phil Tufnell and the Happy Mondays' Shaun Ryder will complete the line-up.

Unlike the original format, I'm A Celebrity... South Africa will not feature a public vote, instead the celebrities will be competing against one another to be crowned the legend.

ITV has confirmed that "many more" celebrities are also set to feature in the series, but viewers will have to wait until the show airs to discover who they are and at what point they will enter the camp.

Discussing Carol’s participation, a source told The Sun: “Carol was always top of producers’ wish list; in some ways she was the perfect campmate.

“She was funny, outspoken and intelligent and let’s just say she gave the younger girls a run for their money in the jungle shower.

“Her flirtations with Joel [Dommett] were one of the big talking points of the series so signing up Carol for All Stars looks like a no brainer.”
