FOOTBALL fans were left in hysterics after Southern Rail accidentally mocked Crystal Palace on social media.

The Eagles sacked manager Patrick Vieira earlier this month following a 12-game winless run.

In their final match before the international break, that dismal period extended to 13 games as Premier League leaders Arsenal beat them 4-1 at the Emirates.

Since then, Roy Hodgson has been confirmed as Palace's new boss until the end of the season.

Fans of the club will be hoping the return of the ex-England head coach can alleviate their relegation fears - with the team just three points above the drop.

And their on-field issues are causing Palace to be trolled off the pitch... even if it is by accident.

On Tuesday morning, Souther Rail tweeted: "⚠️We are aware of a points failure at Crystal Palace.

"???? Trains may be delayed whilst running through this station.

"ℹ️ More to follow shortly."

Due to Palace's dreadful run of form, many people quickly made the hilarious connection that this could have been about the team's performances.

Referencing the irony, one person said: "Best tweet of 2023 goes to… ????."

A Palace fan added: "Don't have to rub it in."

Another football supporter replied: "Crystal Palace have spent the whole season with a points failure."

Before a fourth person responded: "We’ve been aware of that all year, lads."

Palace will look to clinch a first win in 14 games on Saturday when they host Leicester.

They then take on Leeds, Southampton, Everton, Wolves and West Ham in a host more relegation six-pointers.
