Alana Thompson, aka Honey Boo Boo has addressed the online commentary about her age-gap with boyfriend Dralin Carswell.
Fans were first introduced to Dralin in Alana's prom pictures, which sent fans of her former TLC TV show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo wild as they couldn't believe how much she grown up.
Some fans weren't too happy to see Darlin on her arm because of the age-gap between the pair. Alana is 16-years-old and Dralin is 21-years-old.
"She's 16, of course she defends it," one fan fumed on Twitter. "She's a child. This grown ass man is disgusting and her parents need to step in."
"Honey boo boo is less than 6 months older than me (15) and she has a 20 year old boyfriend? Doesn’t sit right with me," a second wrote after Alana was forced to remove a picture of her and Dralin after they were trolled in the comments over the age difference.
'Nobody can tell if I'm 20 or 40 - my job has aged me after 10 years'A third added: "No ma’am. Nope nope. 4 years difference later on is no problem, but a 16 year old and a 20 year old nope."
Addressing the backlash, Alana ultimately confessed that she "doesn't really care" and believes that fans are more annoyed at the fact that she's in an interracial relationship more than the age gap.
"In our relationship, the two most things that everybody is always talking about is our age gap and definitely because he's Black and I’m white and we're an interracial couple," Alana told Entertainment Tonight.
"I don’t care because, like, at the end of the day, my sister approves, his mom approves, and we're happy, so what fans got to say or what haters got to say I don’t really care."
Her sister, Lauryn "Pumpkin" Shannon agreed with Alana and explained that she's "emotionally mature" despite her age and doesn't worry about her sister's relationship.
"She’s not getting married, she’s not having a kid, she's doing very good in school," she said, adding that the lovebirds are "on the same wavelength."
Alana went on to gush about her boyfriend, sharing that the duo are "always talking about something."
"I like how it’s never quiet when we're around each other, we're always talking about something," she said. "It’s never like an awkward moment, silence or none of that. We're always just talking about something."
