Beaches are best enjoyed in the summertime, and they make people full of excitement. Whether you're keen to relax and unwind on them, or you're more of an avid adventurer, they're suitable for everyone. And there are so many things to spot and discover on beaches - like this quirky gate that has gone viral on social media.
The gate, which has been dubbed as 'gate of the year' can be found in Anglesey, and it has become a hit with hundreds of people expressing their amazement and admiration for the elaborately carved gate, and the gorgeous sandy beach that lies beyond.
Since being posted last month, on Facebook's Gate Appreciation Society page, it has gathered more than 42,000 likes from around the world.
The Daily Post shared that some people had referred to the gate as 'gate of the year', and others called it the 'gate to Narnia' and said they were going to seek it out.
Someone said it was "the kind of gate you would see in a Disney film", and another added: "Not so much a gate as a portal to a magical world."
Widow brings pillow with late husband's face on it to pub every New Year's EveDecorated with Celtic motifs and elegant lettering, the wooden gate is one of several guarding Ynys Llanddwyn, a small tidal island off the west coast of Anglesey.
It's a place of remarkable beauty, with pastel blue views across to the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia) and the Llŷn Peninsula, it has two lighthouses, a ruined church, stone crosses, and a row of old, white-washed pilot's cottages.
For visitors, one magical attraction is the wild Welsh ponies that venture onto the island's beaches, which were introduced to help manage the island's valuable habitats.
But fencing is needed to control their movements, hence the carved gates and rustic fences.
Someone else on Facebook added: "It's such a beautiful little gate, just wishing I was going through it."
