TORIES are trying to line up TV’s Judge Rob Rinder to be their candidate for London Mayor, The Sun on Sunday can reveal.

Party bosses want some “star power” to turbocharge their bid to kick Labour’s Sadiq Khan out of the senior job.

Anger is boiling over at Mr Khan’s war on drivers - including his hated daily ULEZ charge slapped on motorists of older cars.

A Tory source said: “Judge Rinder’s name is being talked about.

“There are a few contenders sniffing around the mayoralty, but some in the party want some star power - some star dust - to boost our chances.”

The Sun on Sunday can reveal that Judge Rinder’s name has come up in party meetings as a possible candidate.

Boris Johnson was London Mayor for eight years - but the Tories have failed to get close to winning in London since.

Telly star Rinder is best known for his telly show - Judge Rinder - which sees him sit in a court, rule on disputes and dish out compensation.

He is also a regular host on Good Morning Britain, has a show on Talk Radio and has appeared on Strictly Come Dancing.

Back in 2021, Rinder wrote an open letter to Mr Khan offering him some tips on how to improve policing in the capital.

A former Cabinet minster said: "Judge Rinder would be a lot better than Sadiq Khan."
