A WHISTLEBLOWER who alerted police to the paedophile past of This Morning weatherman Fred Talbot has blasted ITV for failing to investigate complaints against presenters.

The woman was the first to tip-off cops to Talbot’s sex crimes after a friend told her he was abused as a boy at the school the presenter taught at.

When detectives called him, it emerged he had gone to the channel to raise concerns about Talbot and had been ignored.

The woman, 65, who raised the alarm said: “It felt like there was a mass cover up within ITV about allegations against Talbot and there seems to be the same situation now with Schofield.

“They’ve a lot to answer for. The way it was handled back then, and now, is disgraceful.

"It’s like a culture of cover-up.”

Former biology teacher Talbot, 73, got five years’ jail in 2015 for indecent assaults on two boys at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys in Greater Manchester.

In 2019 This Morning’s editor Martin Frizell was investigated after a female staff member complained about his behaviour with ITV executives.

The channel said no evidence of wrong doing was found.

The show’s former medical expert Dr Ranj Singh also complained about Frizell’s behaviour but again, no wrongdoing was uncovered.

Meanwhile, former employees of the show have spoken of their concerns about the culture within the show and the wider organistion.
