Who is Stephen Tompkinson?

Stephen Tompkinson is an English actor who was born in Stockton-on-Tees on October 15, 1965.

He studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London alongside James Nesbitt and Rufus Sewell.

During his last year, he won the 1987 Carleton Hobbs Bursary, which gained him a contract as a member of the BBC's Radio Drama Company.

He's since had a long career in television, appearing in various popular long-running series.

How did Stephen Tompkinson become famous

Stephen's first TV role was in a Channel 4 short film titled Treacle in 1988.

He was then cast in several single episodes for All At No 20, After Henry and Casualty.

In the 90s, he starred in three episodes of Tales Of Sherwood Forest, nine episodes of Chancer, and nine episodes of Minder.

Between 1990 and 1998, Stephen played unethical reporter Damien Day in 66 episodes of comedy Drop The Dead Donkey.

 

But he became a household name after starring in hit TV series Ballykissangel.

He appeared in 22 episode as Father Peter Clifford from 1996-1998.

What other TV shows has Stephen Tompkinson been in?

Stephen also starred in Grafters with Robson Green.

In the early 2000s, he appeared in the mini-series In Deep, comedy Bedtime, Lucky Jim, In Denial Of Murder, Prime Suspect and Ted And Alice with Dawn French.

He played veterinarian Danny Trevanion in ITV's Wild at Heart from 2006 to 2013 alongside Amanda Holden and Lucy-Jo Hudson.

Since then, he's starred in crime drama DCI Banks, TV mini series The Split, supermarket sitcom Trollied as well as ITV's The Bay.

Is Stephen Tompkinson married and does he have children?

Stephen was married to radio producer Celia Anastasia, but they divorced in 1995.

He was then engaged to his Ballykissangel co-star Dervla Kirwan for two years before splitting.

He married Nicci Taylor in 2001 and they have a daughter together, Daisy, but they split in 2006.
