Is Kristen Welker a Republican or a Democrat?
According to the District of Columbia Board of Elections, Kristen Welker has been registered to vote with no party affiliation since 2016.
Previously, records showed Welker was registered as a Democrat in 2012 and 2004.
During NBC's coverage of the 2020 Presidential Elections, she was met with mixed reception from Donald Trump's campaign.

Before that year's second presidential debate began, Trump tweeted that Welker "has always been terrible & unfair, just like most of the Fake News reporters."
The former president also referred to her as "extraordinarily unfair" at a rally in Wisconsin during that same month.
Although it was speculated she might've had Democratic leanings, NBC confirmed Welker is registered to vote but does not have any party affiliation.
However, Welker's parents Julie and Harvey are both registered Democrats.
They have supported campaigns by Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, Barack Obama, and Bill Clinton.
When did Kristen replace Chuck Todd on Meet the Press?
On June 4, 2023, NBC named Kristen as Chuck Todd's replacement on Meet the Press.
"This is truly the honor of my life," the broadcaster said to her Today co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb.
"Meet the Press is one of the most important political broadcasts in history.
"I just feel so grateful and humbled to all of those who built this amazing legacy.
"I'm thinking about Martha Rountree, Tim Russert, and of course, my mentor Chuck Todd, who taught me just about everything I know about politics.

"I'm just so fortunate, proud and I just feel so truly humbled that after nearly a decade of serving as moderator an extraordinary body of work that Chuck is the one passing the baton on to me."
Regarding his departure and Kristen's takeover, Chuck commented: "I've had the privilege of working with her from essentially her first day and let me just say she’s the right person at the right moment.
"This is exactly how I always hoped this would end, that I’d be passing the baton to her."
