LAURA Whitmore will present a brand new hard-hitting documentary series landing on ITV.

The 38-year-old will return to her journalistic roots as she delves into a number of taboo subjects such as rough sex, violent pornography, and incel culture.

This will mark Laura's first return to investigative journalism after she studied the subject at Dublin City University before starting her presenting career.

The Irish presenter, who quit her hosting duties on Love Island earlier this year, won't be shying away from difficult topics in the tell-all docuseries.

An insider told The Sun: "Rough sex is a subject that taps into the grey areas that come with certain behaviours and how we navigate them.

"We're a society which is increasingly exposed to violence via the internet and that can lead to problems when that manifests itself in real life.

"As in so many similar situations, that often means women bear the brunt of those problems, which is what Laura will be looking at in the doc."

In particular, one investigation in the docuseries will focus on "women-hating incels", a movement of misogynistic men who feel they are entitled to women’s bodies, time and attention.

Last November, the Irish presenter revealed she was investigating the online group.

Speaking to The Sun at the time, she said: "One of the topics I’ve been looking at as part of the new series is incels. I didn’t know a lot about this community other than some high-profile cases in the media.

"By meeting incels and trying to understand the ideology, I’ve been both fascinated and at times scared and shocked."

ITV has confirmed that the three-part series will launch in July.
