The girlfriend of Dutch footballer Justin Kluivert has been injured in a robbery which saw thieves steal €200k worth of possessions, it has been claimed.

Kluivert, 24, is spending the season with Spanish side Valencia after joining on loan from AS Roma. Los Che face Mallorca on Thursday night, and the forward was away in the Balearics with his team-mates while his partner was at home.

According to Marca, the hooded robbers hit Kluivert's partner and also assaulted an unnamed second person at the property. The suspects are thought to have made off with watches and jewellery valued at around €200k (£174k).

Kluivert is expected to stay in Mallorca, per comments from Valencia to Marca, though it is unconfirmed at this stage whether he will start for his team. The Netherlands international, whose father Patrick also played for the Oranje, has made 10 of his 23 LaLiga appearances this season from the bench.

With three games of their season remaining, Valencia are not yet safe from relegation. A weekend victory over Real Madrid leaves them in 13th going into Thursday's game, but they are just two points clear of the drop.

Marca's report claims that the player's girlfriend has only suffered minor injuries following the attack, which lasted just five minutes. She was reportedly returning from walking the couple's dog when the attack is said to have taken place, with RTL reporting that three suspects were involved in the raid at the property in the municipality of Betera.

Kluivert, who joined Roma from boyhood club Ajax in 2018, is spending a third successive season out on loan. He spent the 2020-21 season in Germany with RB Leipzig and was in Ligue 1 with Nice last term, helping the team finish fifth under Christophe Galtier.

He was linked with a summer move to Fulham, with Marco Silva's side having a deal all but done after their promotion to the Premier League. The forward was denied a work permit, though, with a lack of game time for his parent club putting paid to the Cottagers' chances of getting a deal over the line in one of the first deals to suffer from post-Brexit rules in English football.

Kluivert has scored six goals in 23 Valencia appearances, his best return since he hit 10 in his final Ajax season. He also scored twice in Valencia's run to the Copa del Rey quarter-finals, with his eight in all competitions making him Los Che's top scorer.

His most recent goal was the opener in a crucial 2-1 win at Celta Vigo which kick-started survival efforts under Ruben Baraja. After the Mallorca game, Valencia take on fellow relegation battlers Espanyol at the Mestalla before rounding off the campaign with an away match against a Real Betis side who could still find themselves fighting to guarantee Europa League qualification.
