NEIGHBOURS near the North Wales castle where I’m a Celebrity was filmed during Covid are fighting to prevent it holding late-night events.
Locals are angry the trust running 19th century Gwrych Castle wants to sell alcohol from 10am-1am for live concerts up to seven days a week.
Artist Pea Restall told councillors that when the ITV show was staged there in 2020 and 2021: “It was really noisy and disruptive for us and our neighbours.
“During both year’s events, there was noise, lights, people in the road, knocks on our doors.
“This was constant over weekends, evenings, early mornings, weekends - various loud noises, music, fireworks and pyrotechnics at all hours.

“The location of the castle, which is nestled into the hill, works as an amplifier, with the hill behind it.
“The noise, light, and fireworks could be seen throughout Abergele, that's how much it was projected into the environment.”
Another resident said the hillside behind the castle near Abergele acts like a “big speaker” and projects noise out over the town.
A spokesman for the trust said: “The main castle is still a ruin in need of extensive conservation and consolidation.
“But work has begun.
“For these works to continue the castle needs to have more opportunities to open, which is why the application was submitted.
“The potential risk of nuisance and disorder was minimal and posed no risk to the public.”
