DOG owners in a village are living in fear after a pet died from a snake bite suffered on a walk.

Labrador-collie cross Patch, six, was nipped by what was believed to be an adder while out with owner Alan Mormon.

Alan didn’t realise until Patch collapsed and a vet noticed the bite marks.

The trucker, 58, said: “He was full of venom — they couldn’t help him.

“One day he was happily running around care-free. Now he’s gone.”

The dad of two — married to Sally, 49 — put a sign up near to where Patch was bitten in Winchcombe, Gloucs, to warn other dog owners.

Lynne Fry, 75, who walks her two Collies, there, said: “It’s horrific to think a snake may be lurking in the bushes.”
