GAVIN STRACHAN has turned down the chance to become Shrewsbury Town boss to stay at Celtic.
SunSport can reveal the English League One club targeted the highly-rated Hoops coach to replace Steve Cotterill who left earlier this month.
They tabled TWO big money offers to lure the 44 year-old south - with their latest swoop made in the last 24 hours.
But it’s understood Strachan has rejected their advances after making it clear he wants to be part of Brendan Rodgers’ Parkhead return.
Celts chiefs were fully aware of the interest with Rodgers’ adamant he didn’t want to lose the respected coach.

And Strach - son of former boss Gordon - has quickly pledged his commitment to the Northern Irishman.
It brings an end to weeks of uncertainty over his future.

But Celtic refused to let the pair go.
Shrewsbury then targeted Strachan and were prepared to offer him a lucrative deal.
But their hops have now been dashed.
