Taylor Swift fans have said that they are "genuinely scared" for her career because of the rise in the use of artificial intelligence.
Swifties reckon that AI could pose as a threat to the 33-year-old hitmaker, with some airing their concerns on Reddit. Which comes after a track emerged online that mimicked Taylor's voice singing a song by The Weeknd.
There are many AI websites that have song cover generators, which allow anyone to cover popular songs with the voice of your favourite artists. Many of these are then getting uploaded to sites like YouTube and TikTok, with some fans even getting confused when they pop up.
Taking to the Taylor Swift sub Reddit today, one fan aired their concerns for AI when they wrote a post titled: "I'm genuinely frightened of how far AI is going."
Providing more context in the main body of the post, the user then added that they came across an AI version of Starboy by The Weeknd but in Taylor's voice, adding: "I really liked it and all I thought was 'oh okay that's gonna be like the only single song that is made by AI that's good but the others may sound lame'."
Taylor Swift's next studio album revealed after tenth release broke recordsThe fan then said that they were "wrong" because they came across another AI generated track, with Taylor's voice seemingly singing the lyrics to Rihanna's hit Love The Way You Lie. After listening, the fan said: "I'm honestly frightened about this future... What is going on????"
"This piece of music on Taylor's voice is just SO GREAT that I'm honestly addicted to this version now and even downloaded it under the tag of unreleased Lover songs. Do you guys think it may impact Taylor's career or something? Sometimes I really wish she sang some of these songs," concluded the fan.
Other Reddit users were quick to offer their opinions, with many incredibly worried for Taylor's career.
"I just know that Taylor is against all that AI stands for but yeah, you should be concerned. Its only a matter of time until AI affects every single person personally and professionally. It needs to be regulated and so far it isn’t," penned one.
While another said: "AI will absolutely change society in ways we can’t anticipate. Many for the good. But many for the worse. It’ll be fascinating to watch how society adapts as a whole."
Meanwhile, one fan said that "a large part of Taylor’s appeal is her diacritic/confessional songwriting so she’s quite insulated against AI encroachment", with them adding: "No matter how well written the AI song might be a lot of its appeal as a potential Taylor Swift song is lost because it’s not coming from her. But the covers are indeed getting scarily good. How this progresses is almost entirely up to the labels."
