Writing in her blog, Christine said: “I've read many times that people start to pray in such situations or that their life flashes by like a movie.

“My husband told me later that he was thinking of all the opportunities he'd missed and how much he still wanted to teach our children.”

Christine lived with her husband Shahzada in Surbiton, Surrey.

He was reported as dead on June 22, 2023, just four days after setting off in the Titan sub with son Suleman.

Who are Shahzada Dawood's children, Suleman and Alina?

Shahzada and Christine have two children, Alina and Suleman.

Suleman was born in 2004, in Karachi, Pakistan.

He is studying business at the University of Strathclyde.

The university principal Professor Sir Jim McDonald issued a statement saying: "I write to you with a heavy heart to share the news that one of our students, Suleman Dawood, is a passenger on board the submersible that is missing in the North Atlantic.

"We are deeply concerned about Suleman, his father and the others involved in this incident.

"I know you will join me in sending our thoughts and prayers to their families and loved ones.

She majored in English literature at university receiving honours and several awards for her academic achievements.

What happened to Shahzada and Suleman Dawood?

Shahzada and his son Suleman were part of the five member crew on the small sub heading to the wreck of the Titanic.

The father and son set off with Hamish Harding, Stockton Rush and Paul-Henry Nargeolet on the small sub, named Titan, on Sunday, June 18, 2023.

Shahzada's sister Azmeh Dawood revealed that the teenager was "terrified" of going on the trip.

The Titan lost contact with mothership Polar Prince just one hour and 45 minutes into the expedition.

Rescue crews, including two remote-operated vehicles (ROVs), were dispatched to search the ocean surface and depths in the area of the Titanic wreckage.

Despite reports of banging on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, debris was discovered two days later.

On Thursday, June 22, OceanGate Expeditions said in a statement that it believed the five members on board the submersible were believed to be dead.

The company said: “We now believe that our CEO Stockton Rush, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, Hamish Harding, and Paul-Henri Nargeolet, have sadly been lost."

Rear Admiral John Mauger told a press conference: "This was a catastrophic implosion of the vessel which would have generated a significant broadband sound down there that the sonar buoys would have picked up,"

The US Coast Guard said debris was found on the ocean floor which was "consistent with the catastrophic loss of the pressure chamber".

They said they would continue to investigate the scene.
