AMIR Khan's wife has hit back at the model who exchanged racy messages with the boxer.

Faryal Makhdoom, 31, has released a lengthy statement after The Sun revealed her husband had begged a model for cheeky pictures.

Amir, a former world champion, has apologised to his wife and has said he is willing to have therapy after his contact with 25-year-old bridal model Sumaira.

But Faryal has now said she is refusing to "play out my marriage publicly", adding that she has released a statement "after a long week of accusations, slander and harassment".

She has also claimed she has been victim of a "hate campaign" and accused a representative of Sumaira of trying to "tarnish" her reputation.

In a post to her Instagram, she wrote: "Over the duration of the last 7 days, I had had private conversations of mine dissected and torn apart by an alleged 'legal representative' acting on behalf of Sumaira, who has taken to social media with what I can only describe as a hate campaign.

"My name has been used in almost every single story she has posted in a bid to tarnish my reputation and name label me as not only a woman who has no 'self respect' but Amir's supporter and enabler in these circumstances, all because I refuse to publicise the private dealings I have with my husband.

"How I deal with my marriage and my husband is not the concern of anyone else. I refuse to play out my marriage publicly, the situation has been humiliating enough for me and I will not further play in the spectacle created by others in order to satisfy their desires.

"I will stand strong in my stance that I did not owe Sumaira anything more than a civil conversation."

Faryal went on to address claims made by Sumaira that she was not aware Amir was married.

She added: "This woman was not under the impression that Amir was a single bachelor, yet she continued on speaking to him whilst gathering her evidence to take to social media, which is something I do not respect nor support."

Faryal claims she told Sumaira not to "take this to social media" as it would cause "immense embarrassment not only for her but for my family", adding that "in the end no one wins".

She continued: "I am a woman who receives abuse on a daily basis simply for existing and I knew she would also receive the same for even entertaining a married man, no matter what spin she put on the story.

"I'm now being made responsible for Sumaria's current mental state. Her 'legal representative' has claimed that Sumaria suffering with her mental health as a result of her social media presence and exposures in her exchanges with my husband Amir, and this has somehow become my fault too.

The statement added: "Amir and Sumera are both adults who engaged in consented communication. They did not consult me when exchanging messages nor did they consider or respect me when building a 'bond'.

"I will not be dragged through the mud now for not 'supporting another woman'. This woman had no respect or regard for me as a woman and as Amir's wife. There was also no consideration of my mental health.

"I am not in control of Amir's actions not those of Sumaira. I had a civil conversation with her which is more than most women in my position would be willing to do."

Faryal also addressed how she has "bared the brunt of many scandals and embarrassing events" and has been the victim of bullying and harassment.

She said: "I am being criticised for being Amir's wife, for still staying with him knowing his 'track record'.

"This is the man I am married too and have three young children with. The whole world is aware of his track record, his reputation precedes him, why would you as a single woman want to engage in a conversation with him at all?'

"My focus is my children and shielding them from all that is happening. I am simply a mother trying to do what's best for her children and that is all I am willing to pour my energy into."

Addressing The Sun's story this weekend, Amir apologised to his wife admitted he had "made mistakes".

Asked if he would attend therapy sessions if Faryal wanted him to, he said: “That question hasn’t been brought up before.

“But maybe I do need help to stop me from messaging other women.

“I am willing to go to therapy to stop me sending texts to women who aren’t my wife.

“I think nowadays with mental health issues, any help goes a long way. It’s definitely something I would do. Things like that do help, so maybe it’s something to think about."

Faryal confronted him at their home in Dubai earlier this month when she saw our story about Amir begging bridal model Sumaira, 25, for racy pictures and trying to meet up with her.

He approached her online in May in the run-up to his and Faryal’s 10th wedding anniversary, initially complimenting her on her tattoos.

But his messages quickly turned saucy. In one, Amir told Sumaira: “U look good on g string” and suggested she had a boob job.

Sumaira sent him one snap in clothes showing off her rose-tattooed midriff, to which Amir replied: “Can’t stop looking.”

In another, he promised to delete any cheeky pictures.

He asked: “Think I wanna get caught out?”

Furious Faryal, who shares three children with Amir, hit out at her man over the exchange.

Amir, who fought in four weight categories during his time as a professional, retired from boxing in May last year — three months after he lost to Sheffield fighter Kell Brook, 37, in a bout at Manchester’s AO Arena.

In April this year, he was banned from sport for two years, backdated a year, after performance-enhancing drug ostarine was found to have been in his system on the night of the fight.

A tribunal accepted Amir’s argument that the violation was not intentional.

Amir and Faryal starred in BBC series Meet the Khans: Big in Bolton, which finished its third season earlier this year.

The pair were introduced at a New York restaurant by mutual friends in 2011, and wed two years later in a £1million bash at the city’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
