At the start, it was covered in dead grass, tree roots and rubble.
However, they soon set to work excavating the dried-out mound of soil with a rented JCB.

Wood chips helped to tidy up the flower beds and the area around several tree stumps.
Given the tiered setup of the garden, they walled off the higher part with thick beams and installed steps in one side to provide access to the house.
On the lower tier, they used a brick border to act as a sharp divide and installed patio slabs on top of rolled gravel.
Finally, they installed an amazing sprinkler system through a trench in the grass, that was then filled in to cover it.
The sprinkler heads could be turned on and off, as well as set on a time delay, from an app on the son's phone.
The end result was a clean, colourful garden that would certainly add value onto almost any home.
Commenters were quick to share their praise on social media.
One wrote: "What a beautiful transformation.
"A lot of sweat went into that makeover, but the results are stunning.

Another added: "The amount of hard labour that you have put in does credit to you.
"I love the split-level garden and the way you have created the steps."
Best of all, though, the duo claim to have saved £15,000 by renting tools and doing all the work themselves.
