"It is with great sadness that I report my mother, Linda Haynes Sylvander, has passed away, peacefully at home," her son Greg Sylvander wrote on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter.

"We are going to miss my mom immensely."

Her cause of death remains unclear.

Haynes' memorable career took place throughout the 1970s when she scored roles in films like Coffy and The Nickel Ride.

She was well-respected by filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino who have publicly acknowledged her stand-out performance in Rolling Thunder.

"The performance of the film for me is Linda Haynes as Linda Forchet," Tarantino said, per Deadline.

"She was in one of the sleepers for the first QT fest THE NICKEL RIDE, she was in Pam Grier’s COFFY… she was the girl that reaches into Grier’s afro when she has the razors in there and ‘aaaahhhh.'

"But Linda Forchet is my favorite female character in a Paul Schrader movie... She has that look that Ava Gardner got, you know blousey, but it took Ava years to do it, and Linda Haynes just did it naturally. And I mean that in a good way.”

In the film, she played the now-remarried wife of a US Air Force Major who returns home after losing years of his life being a prisoner of war.

Critics say that she did a skillful job acting as the anxious mediator among a crew of stoic male characters.

"The men... come off better than the women because they are excused from ever uttering a word," a 1977 New York Magazine review.

"Linda Haynes, who was so exciting and authentically rural in Robert Mulligan's Nickel Ride, has that most thankless role of the adoring and impossibly patient woman who must babble on to fill the silences."

After starring in several films, Haynes disappeared from the acting world in the 1980s.

It was later revealed that she had left the industry to become a legal secretary and settle down with her family.

Her family will remember her not just as a memorable actress, but as a beloved mother, wife, and grandmother.

"Linda Haynes Sylvander will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her," her obituary reads.

"Her legacy as an actress, artist, and loving individual will continue to inspire and bring joy to those who remember her. May her soul rest in eternal peace."
