Liverpool have finally signed a holding midfielder - but Jurgen Klopp isn't done with the summer transfer window just yet.
Experienced Japanese star Wataru Endo was announced to have joined the Reds in a €19million (£16m) deal on Friday and could make his debut during Saturday's match at home to Bournemouth should his paperwork be registered in time. The now former Stuttgart stalwart, 30, will help ease Klopp's woes at the heart of his team, having been left devoid of a defensive-minded midfielder following Fabinho and Jordan Henderson's respective departures to the Saudi Pro League.
Endo might not be Liverpool's final addition before deadline day on September 1, though, with Klopp keen to improve his squad with a late signing should the opportunity arise. The Reds boss even appears to be ready to go head-to-head with none other than Manchester United in an effort to snatch a deal.

Klopp calls Man Utd target Amrabat
Jurgen Klopp reportedly phoned up Manchester United transfer target Sofyan Amrabat earlier this week in a bid to convince him to join Liverpool. The Fiorentina midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to United but the Reds have also been tagged with interest which stretches back to the World Cup last year.

That was when Amrabat, 26, helped Morocco reach the semi-finals, evidently impressing Klopp. According to La Repubblica, via Viola News, the Liverpool manager called him to discuss 'the importance of his characteristics' and turned on the charm offensive, hoping that he'll snub Erik ten Hag in favour of a switch to Anfield.

Liverpool and Fulham are set to square off in a battle to sign Rennes centre-back Arthur Theate. The Belgium international enjoyed a strong first season in Ligue 1 last time out, even chipping in with five goals and one assist following a move from Italian side Bologna for around £16m.
L'Equipe claim that the Reds and Premier League rivals Fulham are keen on 26-year-old Theate, who's notably left-footed. French outfit Rennes have him under contract until 2026.
Veiga hopes dashed
Napoli are poised to complete the signing of Spanish prospect Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo for an initial €36m (£30m) fee. Veiga, 21, has long been linked with Liverpool and a host of other clubs including Arsenal.
Now, though, newly-crowned Serie A champions Napoli have swooped in and multiple reports state that the creative midfielder's transfer is imminent. A further €6m (£5m) will be paid in add-ons.
