Cat lovers wanting to take to the high seas with their furry pals can now book a ride on "the world's fur-st cat cruise," aimed at creating "family moments of togetherness that will be remembered fur-ever!"
Run by Tall Ship Adventures Pte Ltd in Sentosa, Singapore, the cat cruise is a 2.5hour-long experience on the Royal Albatross vessel for cats and their owners, inspired "by strong demand from owners to let cats onboard" and aimed at celebrating the country's "love for cats and the Cat aka Kucinta."
"We want to help integrate cats into our human lifestyles so that cat owners can bond and share more experiences with their kitties," a website for the company reads. Photos show cat lovers posing their furry loved ones in cutesy costumes while enjoying access to the Cat Lounge - a private designer cabin that offers exceptional views.
A base level cat cruise package starts at $225 for adults and $125 for kids. Cats are complimentary on the trip but are required to be in a cat carrier for both boarding and disembarking, with the company providing carriers with prior notice. There is a policy of one cat per person so no boarding with additional carriers.
In addition to the 2.5hours of sailing on the large vessel, guests get to enjoy a four-course meal that does come with a vegetarian option. The current menu included sautéed garlic prawns, miso soy-glazed salmon, a Vietnamese inspired chicken and sausage glutinous rice and ice cream.
Man fined £165 after outraging the internet by dying puppy to look like PikachuSalad, tofu and falafel are included in the vegetarian options and a gelato is included for dessert. Drinks are not included in the package, it appears.
Cats are given a "Cat Food Trial Pack" from PetCubes, which contains a gourmet cat dinner for them to enjoy from the comfort of their own home.
All cats are welcomed on the cruise, as long as they "are vaccinated, sterilised and used to adventuring outdoors." They also have to be over four months old, according to guidelines provided by the company on their website.
Cats are also required to remain in harnesses while onboard the Royal Albatross, and those harnesses have to be attached to a lead that is "no longer than 1.5meters."
A $600 "Purr-fect Birthday" package allows for two adults to go on the voyage with their cats, early boarding, a welcome “Puurfect Punch" mocktail and access to soft drinks. For just $150 more, the "Meow-tastic V.I.C Package" offers a personalised greeting card, a bottle of house champagne and a bouquet of six roses. The dinner is upgraded to a seven-course meal.
In addition to cat cruises, the Royal Albatross also claims to hold the title for having "the world's furst dog cruise," so even man's best friend gets to have a moment out on the seas. While they also have the $225/$125 dinner cruise for pups, the dog cruise also has a breakfast option that is $150 per adult and $95 per child, according to their website.
