EFFORTS to save a popular Netflix series have fallen flat - with Disney+ scrapping the reboot halfway through filming.

Daredevil is finding a new home on Disney+ and was due to undergo major changes.

Marvel Studio's Daredevil: Born Again paused production in June, due to the writer's strike.

The season was supposed to feature 18 episodes, and less than half of them were filmed.

This led Marvel executives, including the head of the company Kevin Feige, to look over the footage, where they decided the show wasn't working.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel let go of its head writers, Chris Ord and Matt Corman and the directors of the series for a total reboot.

The studio is still looking for new writers and directors for Daredevil, as they go back to the drawing board.

Daredevil: Born Again stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who turns into a superhero.

The series is Marvel's first to feature a hero that already had success on Netflix.

It is now being moved over to Disney+ for its impending Season 4.

OVERHAUL

Marvel wants to write the series after the head writers "crafted a legal procedural that did not resemble the Netflix version, known for its action and violence," according to THR.

The character reportedly didn't appear in his superhero costume until Episode 4.

The studio plans to keep some scenes and episodes of the already-filmed ones with "other serialized elements" thrown in.

However, the show is not able to return in full-scale as the actors are still on strike.

Chris and Matt will still be credited as executive producers.

Vincent D'Onofrio will return as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin.

Born Again is a sequel to the Marvel-Netflix Daredevil series, which ran from 2015 to 2018.

A release date for the new season has not yet been publicly announced.

MARVEL'S CONCRETE CHANGES

Marvel is making changes to all of its upcoming shows.

Instead of hiring film producers, they will get showrunners.

Jessica Gao's postproduction work on She-Hulk made Marvel realize that the shows needs to have a creative throughline from beginning to end.

Marvel also plans to hire full-time TV executives instead of having them work on both the shows and films.

“We need executives that are dedicated to this medium, that are going to focus on streaming, focus on television because they are two different forms," Brad Winderbaum, executive producer for Marvel.

Marvel is also changing its developmental process where showrunners will write pilots and show bibles.

They will not longer shoot an entire series and then look at what's working and what's not.

The company also wants to step away from limited-series formats and step into multi-season serialized TV.

Shows are going to run for several seasons, so characters can take the time to develop relationships with its audience.
