Garcia an option to cover Timber

Arsenal are eyeing a move for Barcelona's Eric Garcia as they seek injury cover.

Jurrien Timber is out for a lengthy period leaving the Gunners is need of a left-sided defender and Mundo Deportivo reports that the Barcelona man is a genuine target.

Catalans boss Xavi is not keen on selling up though.

Luton not pushing for Holding

Luton boss Rob Edwards has shut down talk of the club making a move for Rob Holding.

Newcastle have been handed a daunting Champions League task after being grouped with Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan.

That's in direct contrast to Manchester City. They will start their defence in Group G, where they will face RB Leipzig, Red Star Belgrade and Young Boys.

Arsenal will play Europa League winners Sevilla, PSV and Lens.

Manchester United have been placed into Group A along with Bayern Munich, FC Copenhagen and Galatsaray.

Cooper issues Tavares update

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has revealed that Nuno Tavares' move to the City Ground is in its final stages.

He said: "I do believe there are a couple of players - Tavares and Murillo - that are at the final stages. Not quite done, but the process is ticking along quite nicely.

"Hopefully I haven’t gone too soon on that, because until things are officially done then you never quite know. There’s a lot of work going on."

Mudryk - ESR swap

After being unveiled as a Monaco player on Thursday, Folarin Balogun insisted everything worked out exactly as he wished.

The USA international finalised his move back to Ligue 1 after it was made clear his opportunities in North London would remain limited.

“For me, I don’t have any regrets. Football is a competitive sport, and of course, the manager sometimes makes choices: sometimes there are opportunities for some players, and sometimes it’s a bit difficult,” he said.

Gabriel Magalhaes has dropped a hint over his Arsenal future amid links with Saudi Arabia.

The Brazilian defender has been rumoured to be under consideration to be the next big-name star to move over to the Gulf state. However, he appears fully committed to the Gunners.

Southgate explains Nketiah call-up

England boss Gareth Southgate has been explaining his reasons for calling-up Eddie Nketiah into his latest England squad.

Speaking in a press conference, he said: “It’s an area that we would like to have a look at him. He’s a player with really good pedigree. Very good finisher and it’s good for him to have some time with us. He’s the record scorer with the 21s.”

Brighton make Smith Rowe offer

Brighton have reportedly made an offer for Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe.

That is according to former agent Jimmy McCann, via football.london, who claim that the Seagulls' bid is worth in the region of between £30million-£42million.

The Segaulls are also attempting to sign Barcelona winger Ansu Fati on loan until the end of the season.

Portuguese defender Nuno Tavares is set to exit the Emirates Stadium.

According to Sky Sports, the left-back is edging towards a move to Nottingham Forest. He has undergone a medical at the City Ground.

Tavares will join Forest on a season-long loan with an option to make the move permanent.

USMNT boss weighs in on Balogun move

USMNT boss Gregg Berhalter has revealed that he held talks with Folarin Balogun ahead of his move to Monaco.

He said: “I think with the national team, if you’ve seen how the ideas of the game model has evolved, the national team to me is always about you fitting to the players, because you have a limited player pool.

Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney has explained that his motivations behind leaving the club are added game time.

Holding departure imminent

Rob Holding is expected to leave Arsenal this week, before the summer transfer window slams shut. The defender has fallen way down the pecking order and even the injury to Jurrien Timber is not likely to keep him at the club.

The 27-year-old is keen to play regular football, with talkSPORT reporting that discussions are ongoing between Arsenal chiefs and Holding himself over a solution. Luton Town, Mallorca and Sevilla are all eyeing the defender.

And boss Mikel Arteta is ready to sanction an exit for the Englishman, who has been at Arsenal since 2016. With Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel and Jakub Kiwior all ahead of him, Holding's Arsenal career appears to be over.
