THE newly released trailer for the upcoming documentary series Planet Earth III includes a jaw-dropping moment where a rhino as big as a truck stalks through the streets of a city.

Planet Earth III will once again take viewers on a journey around the world and includes a scene where a rhino walks down a busy city street alongside traffic. The new BBC series, which will, of course, be narrated by Sir David Attenborough, is just days away.

Since the premiere of Planet Earth in 2006, the wildlife documentary series has provided viewers to learn about and see up close the vast array of species that inhabit Earth and the environments they live in.

The trailer for the third instalment of Planet Earth teases what viewers can expect this time around.

The new eight-part series aims to make viewers “look at the world through a new lens,” Sir David said in the trailer.

In addition, Sir David notes a major theme for the docuseries, with a focus on climate change and human impact on the world around us.

The beloved TV presenter teased: “The natural world continues to surprise us. It has changed in extraordinary ways, transformed by a powerful force; us.”

The trailer implies that as a result of humankind’s interference in the natural world, instances of animals being displaced or having to adapt to man-made structures are becoming more common. And it is resulting in scenes such as the rhino stalking through city streets alongside traffic and people.

Other scenes included in the trailer depict monkeys running across a road which runs straight through their jungle habitat.

Of course, there is much more to come in the docuseries, which will premiere on Sunday 22 October.

The synopsis for the BBC series reveals a few more details of what viewers can expect. It reads: “Journeying to the far reaches of our planet, this eight-part series follows some of the world’s most amazing species, telling extraordinary stories that are dramatic, thrilling, funny and sometimes heart-breaking, but always full of hope.”

Additionally, like its predecessor Planet Earth II, the main theme for the documentary has been composed by the award-winning composer Hans Zimmer. For this series he is joined by RAY, and Bastille, together performing a reimagining of Bastille’s 2013 hit Pompeii.
