If you're a regular at McDonald's, then you'll know a few things to be true, including that it's more likely than not that you won't be able to get a milkshake or a McFlurry as the machine is almost always broken.

And while many people will be fed up with hearing this when they order, it seems the workers behind the counter also have a few phrases they are sick of customers saying. And there's one thing in particular that staff 'actually hate', according to a post online.

Taking to Reddit, social media users who work for the fast food company shared their biggest gripes on the r/McDonaldsEmployees forum.

One worker posted: "Does anyone else like actually hate when customers whip out a 'fact' they read online. For example, when you say the McFlurry machine isn't working due to it genuinely not working/being in heat treatment or whatever and then they reply with 'Are you just saying that because you can't be bothered to turn it on?' or 'are you just saying that because it hasn't been cleaned?'

"I had one customer say after I said the flurry machine wasn't working, 'Well I know that's just a lie because I read an article but whatever. I once read a review from my store that said their cheesy bacon flatbread didn't have cheese in it or something along those lines and said 'Rhis is ridiculous seeing as they are delivered to store pre-made'. I was like?? Excuse me where did you gain this knowledge. I’d love it if they were pre-made."

They then asked fellow employees to share their own experiences with customers who think they're 'fully qualified workers'. Hundreds of people upvoted the post, with many also taking the time to comment. One person replied: "Customers will order fries with no salt cause they think it's a life hack to get hot fries."

Someone else said: "The only hack you need to know is that a cheeseburger Happy Meal is cheaper than a small cheeseburger meal. And you get a s****y little cardboard toy that makes you cry for today's youth as a bonus." While a different user bemoaned the people who insist there's a 'secret menu'. They posted: "I had a customer insist that we have 'Secret Menu' and insisted she get a MacKinley, as in Mount McKinley. Which, come to find out, is supposedly a Double Quarter Pounder made like a Big Mac (or technically a Big Mac made with 1/4 meat).

"I gave up telling her there was no such thing and a secret menu doesn't actually exist. She got a Double Quarter made up like a Big Mac (minus the middle bun). As far as the shakes and ice cream go, I generally don't have customers that give me grief on it. I had one that said "F-you!" when I told him, then screeched off, but I didn't have any control over it."
