Just weeks before her death, Kate was pictured having fun at TRNSMT music festival, held at Glasgow Green, on July 8.

Kate, from Kilmarnock, died a short time later on July 31.

Her mum Jacqueline has now paid a touching tribute to her "aspirational" daughter and has been on a mission to raise money for local charity Beautiful Inside and Out, the Kilmarnock Standard reports.

The heartbroken mum told of her devastation following Kate's passing and how the family home was now "too quiet" without her daughter.

Jacqueline said: "Kate managed to cram quite a lot into her short 23 years. She always had a story to tell, got into more than a few scrapes in her time and definitely had some high jinks.

"She was also an unpredictable wee nightmare at times, but I miss her being around so very, very much.

"Our house is far too quiet without her in it, and that’s also quite an adjustment to have to contend with since our home has never been anything but a mixture of chaos, madness and mayhem. It seems too ‘adult’ now.

“Kate thought that one day she was going to have everything that she prayed for, she really believed that, and her aspirations were both legendary and limitless.

"With every fibre of my being, I wish I knew what happened for that to change.

"I decided to collect money for Beautiful Inside & Out - SCIO because the sad and tragic circumstances surrounding Kate’s passing are exactly what they’re striving to prevent."

Since Kate's tragic passing, family and friends have raised almost £2,500 for the organisation.

The charity Beautiful Inside and Out was set-up following the sudden death of Pauline Moriarty’s 13-year-old daughter Jenna.

Founder Pauline wrote: "Thank you very much to Jacqueline, family and friends who all raised an astonishing £1,465 for our work at precious Kate’s funeral.

"This has enabled Beautiful Inside & Out (Scio) to organise and fund 37 counselling sessions in beautiful Kate’s name. We are so very grateful as this shall definitely save lives.

"On a personal level, I knew Kate when she was a cute little girl.

"I look back on those days and my heart breaks for Kate’s family. With so much love for Kate, her mum, siblings and all the family.

"We are here anytime to offer support."
