A CAR expert who found a 40-year-old hidden secret in a Ford Capri said the classic motor is nothing short of a goldmine.

An employee from Retro Cars Reborn unearthed a vintage one pound coin from 1984 - the same year the car was made.

Revealing the discovery on YouTube, he explained how the coin had been hidden away behind the dashboard.

It was only when he removed the dash as he was dismantling the car that he came across the coin.

Whether it was left there on purpose or not when the car was put together remains a mystery, but that would mean the £1 coin had been sat there for almost 40 years.

The coin seemed in good condition despite being trapped away inside the retro motor for four decades.

But unfortunately, it's been discovered a few years to late for it to still be in use.

However, the vintage coin can still sell for a pretty penny online and proves how old motors can be somewhat of a goldmine.

Explaining the find in the video, the car owner said: "I've just taken the dash out of the laser and in doing so, we found a pound coin.

"That's been there for a long time, that's mad."

One comment on the video confirmed that it was certainly an "old school" coin, but it's unclear as to what the car expert did with it next.

Nonetheless, the old cars still had one last surprise for its owner.

Elsewhere, an extremely rare Ford Capri with a bizarre backstory can be yours for £30,000.

The classic motor, which is a firm favourite among enthusiasts, is up for sale in Herefordshire after being locked away for 30 years by its bitter former owner.

And one Ford Capri that rotted away in a barn for 16 years has undergone a huge transformation after being "rescued from the dead".

The car expert who found the vintage motor claimed it reeked of mouse poo and was covered in dust.
