A TRANSGENDER nursery teacher was forced to quit their role following complaints from parents.

The student teacher left their position after parents of the children "raised concerns" with bosses at the nursery in the southside of Glasgow.

The student teacher was assigned to the early learning centre as part of a placement through Glasgow Clyde College and had been working there since the start of the term.

But it's understood they were forced to quit the role over fears for their safety after the mother of a child at the nursery had "concerns" and approached management.

It's believed the parent contacted nursery chiefs claiming that their child had returned home "confused" and "upset".

“All our schools and nurseries are inclusive spaces that teach about equality and diversity.”

A spokesperson at Glasgow Clyde College said: “We’re strongly committed to an inclusive approach to education and are proud of the diversity of our student population.

"Anyone who studies at the college should have access to every available opportunity to learn.”
