VIGIL star Rose Leslie and Game of Thrones husband Kit Harrington are stuck in a renovation row at their £1.75million mansion.

The Scottish actress and her partner, both 36, want to turn a 15th century barn into bedrooms for guests at their Grade II-listed house in Suffolk.

The property currently contains a swimming pool, tennis court, pavilion and croquet lawn.

But the couple have hit a stumbling block over hopes to redevelop a barn into guest accommodation and a games room.

The proposals, lodged in November, also include the construction of a second set of front gates and various landscaping work, MailOnline reports.

But conservationists have stepped in after a bat survey report warned the works could lead to the destruction of roosts - where bats settle to rest at night.

It comes after a number of species of bats were found to be roosting in the barn and were spotted "emerging" from the site on three occasions last year.

Experts have lodged an objection to the couple's plans citing 39 common pipistrelle bats being spotted during their study.

They argue there is not "sufficient ecological information available for determination of this application".

Bats are protected by UK law and it is illegal to kill, possess or handle them without a licence or to cause them harm or disturb their habitat in any way.

Developers must protect any structure or place used by bats from damage or destruction, regardless of whether they're occupied.

The council's final decision on the planning application is pending.

The couple are understood to be building the new gates to put a stop to people looking into their property.

Kit and Rose then married in Scotland at her family's castle in Aberdeen in front of 200 pals on June 23, 2018.

Among the guests at Rosie's 12th-century family castle were Emilia Clarke and Peter Dinklage who both starred in the HBO series.

Rose shot to fame in the first ever series of Downton Abbey.

She then went on to win acclaim for her portrayal of Jon Snow's wildling lover Ygritte in the HBO fantasy epic series.

But after three seasons on the show her character was killed off in a tragic scene which saw her struck by an arrow, spending her last living moments in the arms of Jon.

During her time on the show, she appeared alongside the rugged Harington, the brooding Lord Commander, and in 2012 their romance continued off-screen.

In 2021, Rose starred in BBC One's Vigil alongside Suranne Jones.
