DEAR DEIDRE: Since my pet budgie died, I’ve felt so sad and lonely. I was bullied at school, but my budgie was always there.
I’m a 16-year-old boy and I’ve never really had any friends. People laugh at me and say I’m ugly and stupid.
My grandad bought me my budgie when I was 11. I know she was just a bird but she always made me feel better, no matter how mean people had been.
Since she died last month I’ve felt totally alone.
DEIDRE SAYS: The death of a beloved pet can be extremely upsetting.

You’re grieving, but things will get better. Find help from The Blue Cross, which offers a Pet Bereavement Support Service (bluecross.org.uk, 0800 096 6606.)
Perhaps when you’re ready, you could think about getting a new bird.
My support pack, Raising Self-esteem should help you to find more confidence. And do tell your teacher about any bullying.
