JAMES May has given his verdict on whether he would any new shows with longtime TV colleagues Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson.

The trio shockingly quit their Grand Tour programme in November but it seems that may not be the end of their road together.

Speaking on Radio 4's Today programme this morning, May said he "wouldn't rule out" further collaborations with his two partners in crime, alongside whom he rose to fame as the faces of BBC Top Gear.

The presenter added that he still speaks to his former co-stars and that while they are "getting on a bit", the right pitch could see them come together on a new project.

The trio are set to release two further episodes of the Grand Tour in 2024 before the show comes to a close.

It marks the end of an eight-year run that began after they all left Top Gear, which has itself now been put on ice, in the wake of Clarkson being fired over an altercation with a producer.

May, 60, told Today that they had wanted to finish up the Grand Tour "with grace rather than flying it into a cliff".

All three are also taking time to concentrate on their own individual projects.

May himself is the face of the Our Man In... series and has released a cookbook titled Oh Cook accompanied by a cookery show, both on Amazon Prime, while Clarkson hosts Clarkson's Farm on the same platform.

Hammond, meanwhile, appears regularly on the DriveTribe YouTube channel and runs his own classic car restoration workshop called The Smallest Cog in Herefordshire.

Nonetheless, May seemed to leave the door open for future work together in his interview, saying: "We've got two [episodes of the Grand Tour] in the bag, there's one coming out very soon, and another coming out a bit after that, but what happens between now and then we'll have to wait and see."

And when asked if there were any specific projects in the works, he added: "I can't reveal that because the brutal truth is I don't know yet. But I do still speak to them."

For now, though, the Grand Tour finale is set to mark the swansong for the famous trio and their longtime director Andy Wilman as a group.

May's latest show, Our Man in India, will premiere on Amazon Prime on January 5 2024.
