The comedy, which is created by and stars Brendan O'Carroll, is famed for its production mistakes and tomfoolery.

In the latest installment, Brendan's character Agnes begins the New Year with a gruelling health and fitness regime.

However, a mysterious visitor raises some difficult questions about her past.

But many of the show's fans were left unimpressed and took to social media where they moaned about it being "terrible".

One fumed, "4 minutes in and still not laughed. #mrsbrownsboys used to be so funny!!"

Another added, "Why the f**k is this absolute s**t delaying the BBC news?"

Someone else agreed, "And so far IT'S RUBBISH! Running true to form then."

One more wrote, "How has that tripe #mrsbrownsboys not been cancelled. It's 2024 and it's still going. Do better BBC. It's excruciatingly terrible."

Despite the backlash, it doesn't look like Brendan will be losing any sleep.

He recently hit back at trolls after receiving harsh comments, telling BBC Radio Sounds: “First of all, I’m well aware that comedy is very subjective. What some people like, other people just detest. So I don’t take it too serious."

The star also revealed that the show remains immensely popular with families who love the one-liners and it has even helped children with autism.

He explained: “When we started... by about the fourth or fifth episode, we got a couple of letters from people who had autistic children.

“It started as a couple of letters and it’s now been over 3,000. And they said that their kids watched Mrs Brown and they heard them laugh in context for the very first time.

"One woman said she was in the kitchen and heard her son laughing for the very first time.

"So when you get a letter like that I don’t care what the critics say. That’ll do me.”
