Find out how strong your relationship is with a new scientific test.

Have you ever wondered whether you and your partner have a healthy relationship? We all go through rough patches in our romances, but how you resolve those rough patches can tell you a lot about the overall strength of your bond.

Whether you and your partner communicate enough, respect each other's boundaries, and have empathy for one another can go a long way to proving whether your relationship is healthy. And there's now an official scientific test that claims to be able to assess your romance and tell you exactly what you're doing right - and wrong.

The Healthy Relationship Test was put together by people who work professionally in psychology and human research and was shared online via IDRLabs, which also hosts several other quizzes and personality tests.

According to the test description, the quiz states that "no relationship is perfect and occasional challenges are normal", however "in a healthy relationship, both partners are committed to working together to overcome difficulties and maintain a loving, respectful, and fulfilling connection". Relationships that consistently lack these qualities are deemed unhealthy.

So how do you take the test? First, you'll need to head over to the IDRLabs website, where the Healthy Relationship Test can be found. It's free to use, and should only take you a couple of minutes to fill out.

The test consists of 40 statements that are answered via a sliding scale that indicates whether you agree or disagree with the statements being posed. For example, one statement reads "We handle our conflicts in an assertive and respectful way", while another says "We support each other's individual growth and improvement".

Once all statements have been given an "agree" or "disagree" rating, you'll then be presented with an overall chart like the one pictured above, which shows how healthy or unhealthy your relationship is in certain key areas, including communication, teamwork, empathy and trust. The chart lets you see which parts of your relationship are already strong, and which parts - if any - could do with some work.

Finally, you'll be presented with an overall percentage score for how healthy your relationship is. The site then breaks down what each of the categories means, and how they affect your relationship. However, the quiz does not claim to be a replacement for a "professional assessment".

The quiz publishers explained: "As the publishers of this free test, which allows you to screen your relationship for the characteristics of each healthy relationship element, we have strived to make the test as reliable and valid as possible by subjecting this test to statistical controls and validation. However, free online quizzes such as the present test do not provide professional assessments or recommendations of any kind; the test is provided entirely 'as-is'."
