The ladies’ Instagram feeds are bursting with the same clever selfie which science claims can attract men like flies.

The alluring pose involves the women leaning forward in tiny bikinis and barely-there frocks to show off their stunning figures, steal the hearts of Love Island fans and tempt bombshell boys to couple up and win the £50,000 prize.

So how does the ‘Love Island lean’ enchant men and can it help us single gals bag a partner?

Yes, says body language expert and author of The Future of Body Language, Carole Railton

“You might not realise it, but the way you pose for photos can send secret messages,” she says. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it’s the science that makes you really sexy.”

From fake waists to face shaping and a magic angle, Carole unpicks the bewitching science behind Love Island’s leaning selfie…

Get ahead of the curve

Sticking your bottom out and arching your back creates serious curve appeal in pictures.

Studies claim it’s an evolutionary hack - dating back thousands of years - that tells men you’re willing to get intimate.

It could explain why some blokes love ladies in stilettos, or get tempted by twerking.

Carole says: “Men appear to be more drawn to women who slightly curve their backs. The pose suggests you’re relaxed and therefore more approachable.

“Meanwhile a stiff, straight back shows confidence and power - a turn-on for some, but intimidating for others.”

Lean on me

Pushing your body towards the camera will show off chiselled cheekbones and make your eyes pop.

As well as parading your best features for the camera, by leaning forward you’re telling potential partners ‘I’m interested in you’.

Carole says: “When you lean in towards someone, they’re more likely to listen.

“This is what professional speakers do on stage to keep their audience on the ball, and it can work to attract your love interest too.

“Be wary of your posture when you lean forward - rounded shoulders are a turn off and can add years to your age.”

Chest appeal

Big boobs or not, pushing your chest out creates the illusion of a more slender waist and gives a big boost to your ego.

Confidence is contagious, and men can’t help but catch your eye.

Carole says: “A slim-waisted figure - illusion or not - is an indicator that you’re fertile, and a huge amount of underwear has been designed to enhance this image.

“Have fun and see what shapes suit you.”

Keep your chin up

Dump any chance of a double chin by lifting the camera above your eye level.

Studies show that when people take a picture of themselves from above, they’re considered more attractive - and for good reason.

Carole says: “A higher camera angle gives people a truer picture of your face compared to a straight-on shot, which focuses on your nose sticking out from your face.

“It also gives the illusion of a longer, slimmer neck - a sign of elegance and grace.

“Many tribal women stretch their necks to achieve this and enchant a man.”

The right angle

Everyone has a ‘best’ side in front of the camera, but research says tilting to the right is the route to romance.

People were considered more attractive in pictures when their head was angled to the right, and at 15 degrees, according to one study.

Carole says: “The left side of the body is female. By tilting your head to the right, you reveal more of your feminine side - it’s a well known ploy to attract the opposite sex.

“This angle suggests that you’re open and interested, giving potential partners the confidence to make a move.”
