Who was Glynis Johns?
Glynis Johns was born in South Africa on 5 October 1923 to parents Alice Steele-Wareham, an Australian born concert pianist and father Mervin Johns.

They moved back to England a few months after Glynis was born, so she spent most of her childhood in London.
Her career began at just three weeks old in October 1923 where she was carried on to a London stage by her grandmother.
She came from a line of performers, so it was only natural for her to follow this career path and in 1931 at ahe eight she was cast in her first play.
What movies did Glynis Johns star in?
Glynis's career in film really began to take off in the 1940's starting with 'Under Your Hat'. The film was a spy film directed by Maurice Elvey and she played a supporting role.
Over the next decade she starred in roughly a film per year.
Her most well-known and loved work was Mary Poppins in 1964, where she played the iconic Mrs Banks.
Mrs Banks shot her to stardom and her career went from strength-to-strength.
This amazing success followed her for decades, until she began to take her final roles in the 1990s. Her last on-screen appearance was in the 1999 film 'Superstar'.
By this period, she had cemented herself as a Disney legend.

Glynis Johns was married four times throughout the course of her life. Her first marriage was to Anthony Forwood, who she met while rehearsing for 'Quiet Wedding'
They were married in London and the couple had one child together before they filed for divorce in 1948 citing 'adultery'.
Her third husband, Cecil Henderson, was a businessman who she married in 1960. The duo divorced just two years later after Henderson claimed she had an affair.
Glynis then went on to marry David Foster, a Royal Navy officer. Alas this was also not meant to be, as two years after they married, divorce proceedings had begun.
Her final husband was writer and US Air Force Captain Elliott Arnold. The pair were married from 1964-1973.
It is unclear whether she ever re-married or was in a relationship with anybody at her time of death.

Glynis Johns tragically passed away at age 100 in a Los Angeles assisted living home.

Her death has been described as "a sombre day for Hollywood" by her manager.
