ANT McPartlin "always wanted children" and his baby with Anne Marie is the "stuff of dreams".

The star, 48, has long wanted a family and was thrilled to tell the Britain’s Got Talent cast that wife Anne-Marie Corbett, 46, is expecting in June.

Last night a source exclusively told The Sun that the pair were "beyond delighted".

They said: “It’s no secret that Ant has always wanted children, but that it may never happen for him was something he had, sadly, come to terms with.

"When they found out last year, they were absolutely delighted, but obviously kept the news quiet for as long as possible.

“To be having a child two years short of his 50th birthday, with the love of his life, is the stuff of dreams for Ant.

"He’s already a wonderful, doting father to Anne-Marie’s kids, and together they’re going to be brilliant parents to this latest addition to the family.

"This is the news everyone wanted. Ant and Anne- Marie are beyond delighted."

Comedy icon Ant had already confided in best mate Declan Donnelly, 48.

News of Anne-Marie’s pregnancy comes three years after the couple married at St Michael’s Church in Heckfield, Hampshire.

Dec whose son Joseph has the middle name Anthony in tribute to his close pal, was best man.

Anne-Marie formerly worked as a personal assistant to Ant’s then-wife, Lisa Armstrong.

During his marriage with Lisa, Ant had been open about the couple's difficulties conceiving.

In 2013 a then-38-year-old Ant said in a moving interview with the Radio Times: "Lisa and I would love to have kids.

"We’re trying. It’s tougher than you think when you get a bit older."

After becoming close friends, Anne-Marie and Ant got together as a couple in 2018 following the star’s acrimonious marital split.

Ant has since developed a strong bond with Anne-Marie’s two teenage daughters, raising them as a family in South West London.

They also have two Maltipoos, Milo and Bumble, whom they are regularly spotted walking.

NEW BEGINNINGS

The popular ITV presenter credits Anne-Marie for getting him through his well-documented alcohol and prescription drug addictions, and has frequently been described as his “rock”.

Ant battled drink and prescription drug addictions following a botched knee operation.

He was then involved in a car crash in 2018, prompting him to check into rehab for two months.

But Ant is now teetotal, and has spoken of his happiness in both his own personal and professional life.

Rumours have been circling for months that the couple might be expecting – but they have never been confirmed or denied.

Last year, Anne-Marie decided against flying 21 hours to Australia to be with her husband while he hosted I’m A Celebrity.

Instead, Ant was Down Under alone while co-host Declan was joined by Ali and their two children — Isla, five, and Jack, one.

Ant is currently filming the new series of Britain’s Got Talent in Manchester.

He and Dec yesterday lined up for a photocall alongside judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli.

Last year Ant and Dec revealed they were taking a hiatus from their successful Saturday Night Takeaway series to focus on other projects.

It means the father-to-be will have more time to spend with his new baby.
