She looked fresh-faced in the photo where she rocked a patterned headscarf.

The star who shot to fame on EastEnders playing Sam Mitchell looked radiant as she cuddled Kai.

She showed off her natural beauty wearing just a hint of mascara and a touch of lipstick.

Kai, 25, looked sweet in the throwback as he smiled alongside his mum.

Meanwhile Dannielle has been honest about the ups and downs the two have had over the years.

Last May she revealed her son Kai refused to speak to her for seven months after she relapsed.

The star, who is thought to have blown £250k on drugs in the past, told how she is now learning how to “face her fears” when it comes to her addiction issues.

Speaking on The Frost Report podcast, the former EastEnders actress revealed she moved to Yorkshire after her family turned their back on her and spent weeks at a time alone in order to get back on track.

Now back living in Essex, Danniella reflected on her journey and reconnecting with Kai, 25,  her son with ex Robert Fernandez. She is also mum to Jody, with Kevin Jenkins.

Danniella explained: "I believe in the universe, I do my manifestations, yoga retreats, I love all that. That's what works for me. But if I don't look after my health and feed my soul then my mental illness kicks in. Then my addiction is going to kick in and then my whole world falls apart.

"It's like you said, 'What was the one thing that was instrumental that really changed for you?' For me, it was this time round with this relapse. My whole family didn't talk to me anymore."

"I thought my son would be there for me no matter what. But he just went, 'No.' He went, 'Mum, do you think it never broke my heart to not pick the phone up for seven months?' [Before that] I spoke to the kid every day. But he said, 'I'm not your carer, [you] do you.' I needed him, it broke me.”

Fortunately, things started to get back on track after she isolated herself and really worked on getting better.

She continued: "I sat at home up north [in Yorkshire] and I worked on myself religiously. He had to see it through my social media and different things I was doing, because he knew I couldn't lie.

“He could see what time I was going on WhatsApp, the kid knew if I was using or not using. Because he knows I'm an addict, I'm going to be slipping and sliding and finding ways around everything.

"But then on Mother's Day last year he rang me and he went, 'What's happening?' I just fell apart. He went, 'Mum, I love you.'"
