COUNTRYFILE viewers were left seriously distracted as they noticed a spelling error during a weather report on the BBC show.

As the popular programme made a return to screens on Sunday night it faced a backlash from viewers.

During the weather report those at home watching noticed a a spelling mistake.

The word "settled" was spelt on screen as "setteld" instead.

Many viewers rushed to Twitter to point out the embarrassing error.

One wrote: "Spelling OCD triggered by this on BBC Countryfile weather forecast."

Another complained: "Settled spelt wrong in summary."

A third added: "Settled" weather."

A fourth penned: "Weather Typo klaxon."

Elsewhere in the episode, those watching at home learned it's been 60 years since the Big Freeze, one of the coldest winters on record.

Anita Rani and Joe Crowley travelled to Flash, the UK’s highest village, to see how the community coped then and how they braced for winter now.

They also discovered what sort of weather can be expected in future winters. 

Meanwhile, Adam Henson revealed a new insulating product for chimney flues and Tom Heap visited the Isle of Eigg, where islanders aren’t waiting for government to help them level up but are doing it for themselves.
