However, last year Monty sparked rumours he would depart Gardeners' World in an interview.

But it seems the 68-year-old is firmly staying put on the show.

He told Radio Times: “In the end, I’m a gardener and my life is lived in my garden.

"To share that through the medium of Gardeners’ World is not only a privilege, it’s also completely central to who I am and what I do."

He also revealed he suffers with depression, which affects him the worst during winter months.

“I wouldn’t say I have been healed. I’d say I am being healed. It’s an ongoing process," he admitted.

Monty was speaking ahead of his brand new show Spanish Gardens kicking off.

Before it starts on Friday, Monty took to his website to offer fans more insight into the series.

He said: "This was filmed last year when I spent seven weeks in Spain across April, May, June and October and covers over 40 different gardens right across Spain.

"I found it an exhilarating and fascinating experience with stunning gardens and learned so much more about the country - despite having visited many times before as a tourist.

"It looks incredible, and hope you find it as entertaining and rewarding watching it as I did making it."

Monty's wife Sarah will also star in the show, as the presenter revealed he was told off for his behaviour on set.
