LOVE Island star Tyrique Hyde said he'd reached a 'whole new level of closeness' with girlfriend Ella Thomas - just weeks before they called it a day.
The couple, whose split was confirmed this weekend, had their ups and downs with even an temporary split during their eight months together.

When doing a Q+A while getting his hair cut at the barbers, Tyrique was asked about his favourite moments with Ella outside of the villa.
"I’m going to have to say, it’s between two," he said. "Christmas, the whole Christmas period when I went to Glasgow for Christmas. That was sick man, I felt like we got proper close.

"And also, at one point when we was in LA on a rooftop bar," he added. "Man I felt like I was flying. That was crazy, that was mad. So one of them two."
However, another moment could prove telling with what went wrong between the couple.
"If someone gave me the choice to have my first relationship in the public eye, or out the public eye, I deffo would’ve chose out the public eye, man," he said. "I'm not really into the public eye relationship stuff too much."
"But at the end of the day, the cards I was dealt and I like the situation I’m in," he added. "What can I do? God has this plan with me, and I’m just rocking with it."
Just weeks later his romance with Ella was over, with both of them seemingly taking swipes at each other on social media.
A source close to the couple told The Sun of their split: "They have tried really hard but just been having constant arguments.
"At the end of day they want different things and it's too hard to make it work. They are saying it's over for good this time and there is no going back."
Shortly after news of their split broke, the semi-professional footballer broke his silence with a photo of a carton of milk with the phrase: "don't cry over spilt milk".
