Simon Cowell has faced the wrath of an unlikely animal taking over his £8million home.

The music mogul moved to the country for a quieter life after giving up his London pad. He sought a retreat in the idyllic Cotswolds with partner Lauren Silverman, 46, and their son Eric, nine, in an effort to 'feel safer'. However, the talent show creator has reportedly seen his stunning home overrun with pesky moles who have destroyed his sprawling garden.

The creatures have left the 64-year-old's eight acres riddled with mole hills, which is now said to look like "Swiss cheese". Simon is said to have seen the moles getting close to the house and "getting braver". Their presence has reportedly spoiled the view from the swimming pool and patio.

"It was fine when they moved in, now the gardens are riddled with molehills," a source told The Sun. "It's like they're taking over." Simon purchased the home in 2021, which is said to have been four properties that were then transformed into one mega mansion. Last year, Simon was said to have sold his £45 million mansion in Holland Park following a string of security threats.

He reportedly told his friends that he feels 'unsafe' in Kensington, having suffered a number of home intrusions while living in the Central London borough for the past 16 years. Despite spending £500,000 on security to safeguard the home, Simon was subject to repeat intrusions and it was alleged a criminal gang had even sold the exact lock to his front door.

In 2015, thieves broke into the property in the early hours of the morning while the family slept and stole jewellery worth up to £1 million and two passports from an open safe. "One hundred per cent I’d like to meet the guy," the X Factor star later said of the incident. "If we found him I’d want to have a conversation with him. I don’t want to say too much right now because I am angry. As a dad you have to realise the psychological damage it does having someone you don’t know in your home 3ft away from your little boy."

He was disappointed his three dogs "didn't make a sound" when the invasion happened, and so now has "dogs that bark". Simon owns two German Shepherds that are being trained and will be on patrol at his properties. A source told The Mirror: “These two pets have been bought solely with security in mind. These new dogs will also help him and Lauren feel much more secure.”

Simon also had a scary encounter in 2012, when a woman wielding a brick broke into the property while the TV personality was at home watching television. Simon also has lavish homes in Malibu and Los Angeles, and previously owned a £17 million mansion in Wimbledon. It's understood that he sold the latter after finding his son Eric's school run from South London 'too long'.

The Mirror has contacted Simon's representative for comment.
