MONTY Don has announced the end of his BBC gardening series - and fans have paid their emotional tributes.
The 68-year-old horticulturist has hosted Gardeners World since 2003 - with the programme being aired from his own garden in Herefordshire from 2011 onwards.

Now, the gardening guru has taken to social media to share the bittersweet news that he is wrapping up the 'final programme' on it.
He posted a short clip from the last episode of Monty Don's Spanish Gardens.

This week I am in the North of Spain, starting in Galicia and the superb Baroque garden Pazo de Oca."
Fans of the show flooded the comments section with emotional tributes.
One wrote: "Thank you for these lovely programmes. I think they’ve saved our bacon on these cold, wet, grey days. To see colour and brightness during this period really lifts the spirits. Fascinating series."

On his website, Monty gave more information about Monty Don's Spanish Gardens, revealing that filming was "an exhilarating and fascinating experience."
The gardening expert admitted: "This was filmed last year when I spent seven weeks in Spain across April, May, June and October and covers over 40 different gardens right across Spain.

It comes after Monty recently confirmed his future on Gardeners' World after sparking speculation he would quit.
He told The Times: "I was naive."
After revealing he made the comments "at the end of a long year" he added: "I was tired and thought it would be nice to have a rest, but I was naive to say that.
"I can categorically say without any equivocation that I'm very happy to do it for another three years.
