SHEFFIELD UNITED boss Chris Wilder gave a hilarious response after Mikel Arteta claimed he has "learnt a lot" from the Blades' manager.

Wilder's men were humiliated in front of their own fans at Bramall Lane on Monday night as the Gunners handed them a 6-0 thrashing.

Heading into the match, Sheffield United were bottom of the table, 11 points from safety.

Yet Wilder appeared to still be in high spirits as he conducted his pre-match interview.

And he even had time to joke around with the Sky Sports reporter.

It was put to him that Arsenal boss Arteta was "very complimentary" about his coaching and that the Spaniard has "learnt a lot" from him.

To which Wilder jovially replied: "Has he been on the red wine?"

Despite Arteta's kind words, his Arsenal side were ruthless in the manner of their performance.

A destructive quarter of an hour saw the North London club race into a 3-0 lead as home supporters poured out of the exits.

And a fourth from Kai Havertz in the 25th minute led to an even more desolate Bramall Lane.

Declan Rice added a fifth prior to half-time, before Ben White netted a sixth in the second period.

And Wilder admitted after the game that his side had made it "pretty easy" for the visitors.

He told BBC Sport: "Arsenal were outstanding. We didn't track runners and made it pretty easy for them to open us up.

"They cut us wide open. They are doing that to a lot of teams. I'm not saying that makes us feel better because that is another long night for this club.

"[Bukayo] Saka took us to pieces down that side. You have to try to stem the tide, especially when they are in full flow.

"When they get five at the top of the pitch, they find that pass and movement - then it is difficult to stop.

"We didn't have an answer to anything they had. The result is what the result is and we have to live with it."
