A BELOVED BBC Breakfast host has finally broken his silence after being replaced on the red sofa.
During the week fans of the flagship Beeb programme were left confused as Jon Kay was nowhere to be seen.
Instead of being greeted by the 54-year-old viewers instead saw Ben Thompson take over hosting duties.
He fronted the show alongside Sally Nugent, 53, as the pair brought viewers the latest news.
While no explanation was given for Jon's absence on air, it's now been revealed exactly where he was.

The dad-of-three was enjoying a well-deserved holiday during the Easter break with his family.
Posting on social media, the journalist told fans he had spent the last few days in picturesque Cornwall.
However, the trip wasn't as relaxing as Jon was hoping for, as he explained to fans: "Flat tyre. Rained every day.
"As you can see, I fell over in a muddy ditch (and then pretended it was a deliberate April Fool - nobody was fooled ????) but we had a lovely spring break."
Commenting on his holidays snaps, one fan said: "Kids will dine out on the story of when Dad fell in the mud Nice one."
A second wrote: "As I Cornish lady I can sympathise! But it’s fabulous wheh sunny ! That did make me chuckle tho."
Jon has three children with his wife Francesca, who are kept very much out of the limelight.
He has been a part of BBC Breakfast since 2009 but became a regular presenter with Sally Nugent following Dan Walker's departure in 2022.
